Chairman of the Standardization Committee:
Mr. Kazuhiro Igarashi, Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.
We have missions in the standardization Committee to promote our
standardization of the specification widely to be adopted in addition
to coming up with the specification technically and taking a necessary
step to standardize.
(1)The establishment of Standardization Working Group
The Standardization Committee will form the Standardization Working
Groups and also organize from time to time subworking group (hereinafter
referred to as "Subworking Groups") depending upon specification
to promote standardization underneath.
(2)Holding the Standardization Committee and coordinating among
Working Groups
The Standardization Committee organized of Working Group chairpersons
in the Standardization Working Group will hold periodically meetings
and coordinate among Working Groups. Each Working Group is composed
of specialists with expertise, makes the specification, and goes
campaigning for our standardization. In this circumstance there
might be one of topics or agenda raised by a Working Group and
later be coordinated among Working Groups. For an example, Lighting
Working Group, Lens Working Group, and Camera Spec Standard Working
Group may have the same issues each other in their activities
and be needed to coordinate among. In this case the Standardization
Committee will take a role to do among and try to settle.
Currently there are four Working Groups such as Digital Interface
Working Group, Camera Spec Standard Working Group, Lighting Working
Group, and Lens Working Group under the Standardization Committee.
Since the Digital Interface Working Group has four Subworking
Groups underneath, there are in fact seven Working Groups working
on specification and standardization for various industrial cameras
and its peripheral products.
■ Camera Link Working Group:
Group Leader:
Mr. Fumio NAGUMO, CIS Corporation
This Group is in the process to review one of the standard candidates for industrial camera interface called "Camera Link" on which the Camera Link Committee in the AIA is working, and also to review the recent extended specification called "PoCL" which tuned out to be standardized with new requirements based upon customers" feedback into the AIA. This group is going to actively promote the spread of these standards throughout.
■ GigE Working Group:
Group Leader:
Mr. Tsutomu KOJIMA, ADSTEC Corporation
This Group is in the process to adopt one of the AIA (Automated Imaging Association) standard for industrial camera interface called "GigE Vision" which is focused on giga-bit Ethernet. We want to be sure that the specification of the "GigE Vision" is a real requirement in JIIA. We will get all about "GigE Vision" known to every members in JIIA and try to come into widely use. We will also give feedback to the GigE Vision Committee in the AIA about new requirements in the Japan market and help them with improvements in the standards.
■ Next Generation Interface Working Group:
Group Leader:
Mr. Takashi KAWAKAMI, GRAPHIN CO.,LTD.
This Group has a great mission to work on next generation interface developed originally by JIIA. We expect a new specification will be released in some years because we are aiming this specification to meet advanced technology for its peripheral products. Our efforts will be intended to disseminate information on this specification inside and outside JIIA to standardize globally and internationally.
■ CoaXPress Working Group:
Group Leader:
Mr. Tadashi MIYAZAKI, AVAL DATA CORPORATION
Its primary goal is to standardize CoaXPress proposed by Adimec Advanced Image Systems B.V. CoaXPress is a new digital image interface technology using a coax cable. CoaXPress suited for machine vision applications can be connected with industrial cameras to frame grabbers via just one standard coax cable, and is capable of transferring up to 6.25 Giga bit per sec (Gbps). In addition, multiple coax cables allow to sending images at high speeds beyond 6.25 Gbps. The Working Group tries to draw up completed standard documents and technical documents, and plan interoperability testing in order to develop the standard for CoaXPress technology.
■ Next Generation Camera Protocol Working Group:
Group Leader:
Mr. Yoshitsugu NAKASONE, Toshiba Teli Corporation
This Group is in the process to review and adopt one of the standard candidates on which the EMVA (European Machine Vision Association) is working for camera control protocol specification called "GenICam". We will get all about "GenICam" known to every members in JIIA and try to come into widely use. We will also give feedback to the EMVA about new requirements in the Japan market and help them with improvements in the standards.
■ Lighting Working Group:
Group Leader:
Mr. Shigeki MASUMURA, CCS Inc.
There is the fact that Lighting interfaces, Control methods, and Lighting have been depending upon manufacturers. It would be harder for even qualified system integrators to choose appropriate illuminations against an object when they are engaged in system designs. This Group is to settle such a problem, make a proposal on industrial cameras" illumination, and promote a standardization of specifications.
■ Lens Working Group
Group Leader:
Mr. Yutaka YAMAGUCHI, Toshiba Teli Corporation
This Group will work on standardization for Industrial Camera Lens. There is a market trend that high resolution area sensors and line sensors are largely adopted in recent applications of industrial cameras where we would propose and standardize more considerate specifications in robustness, handy, and intuition. In addition we would propose for standardization of smaller lenses.
Given the fact that nobody could find any working group about standardization for illumination and lens in either the AIA or the EMVA, this group has a great mission that the first proposal of standard specifications in the industry is disseminated. The standardization committee of JIIA is being aligned with the AIA, the EMVA, and other standard-setting organizations outside and inside Japan for standardization efforts, and will work and promote standardizations effectively and complementarily to each other.
■ Camera Spec Standard Working Group:
Group Leader:
Mr. Masanori YASUDA, Toshiba Teli Corporation
We saw industrial cameras and its peripheral products moving from analog to digital world where customers may have problem with comparative analysis and system designs. This problem is brought by specification index, definitions, and measurement methods varied from manufacture to manufacture. On the basis of such situation this group is a Working Group to specify specification index, definitions, and measurement methods and also to promote standardization in the industry.
